Second overlook on Leveau Mountain hike, the best one yet

Tettegouche State Park

We introduced Emily to our favorite place in Minnesota, the North Shore! We spent a long weekend car camping and day hiking out of Tettegouche State Park. It was a great time to get up there and experience the fall colors!

Cascade River State Park

We celebrated our two-year wedding anniversary with a long weekend full of camping at Cascade River State Park and hiking around the Grand Marais and Grand Portage areas. Car camping was a luxurious break from all the backpacking we’ve been doing, and it was nice to kick back at the campsite with hearty food and frosty beverages after hiking!

SHT: Dyer’s Creek to Britton Peak Flip-Flop Hike

Ashley took off for a girls backpacking trip on the SHT with Laura over the weekend - an adventure filled with a late-night hike in, (a few) wrong turns, some pesky bugs, and amazing views of Lake Superior, Temperance and Cross Rivers, and some great inland overlooks!

Our favorite spot of the trip!

SHT: Lake County 7 to Silver Bay

We went back for more on the SHT last weekend, but this time we amped up the mileage and stayed out an extra night! It was definitely the hardest hiking we’ve done on the north shore to date and we learned a lot of lessons - but all worth it to hike through some of the most scenic sections of the SHT.

Lots of Juneberry shrubs in full bloom made for an extra treat!

SHT: Sugar Loaf Road to Crosby-Manitou State Park

Read about our first backpacking trip on the Superior Hiking Trail. It was a short but sweet hiking weekend - it definitely left us wanting more and got us excited about doing more backpacking this summer and fall!
